How it works
How NivaZero helps you pay off debt
NivaZero is a debt payoff simulator built for individuals and families who want a clear path out of debt. It helps you compare timelines, understand tradeoffs, and choose a repayment strategy you can realistically follow.
What NivaZero does
You enter each debt's balance, interest rate, fees, and minimum-payment rule, plus the extra amount you can pay each month. NivaZero then simulates the payoff month by month so you can see what happens before you commit.
- Models credit cards, overdrafts, credit lines, and installment loans in one plan.
- Applies required minimum payments first, then directs your extra monthly payment to the current focus debt.
- Can roll freed minimum payments into your snowball so your plan gathers momentum as balances disappear.
- Can test balance-transfer style moves from available credit when they improve cashflow and help close another debt sooner.
What you need to enter
Use the numbers from your latest statements or loan documents so the projection reflects your real situation as closely as possible.
- Current balance and, for revolving products, the total credit limit.
- Interest rate and whether it is nominal or effective.
- Minimum-payment rule (percentage of balance or fixed amount).
- Monthly fees and optional insurance (percentage or fixed).
How to use the tool
- Set the start month and the extra amount you can realistically pay each month.
- Add every debt you want in the plan and fill in the balance, rate, fees, and minimum-payment rule.
- Choose any advanced options you want to test, such as rolling freed payments forward or keeping minimums fixed.
- Run the simulation and review when each debt clears, how your cashflow changes, and what to focus on next.
Frequently asked questions
Do you store my data?
We don’t ask for personal identity data. Simulation parameters (numbers) are sent to the server to compute results, and the UI keeps your work in your browser during your session.
Is this financial advice?
No—this is an informational simulator and the outputs are estimates. See: Disclaimer
Why don’t my bank minimums match exactly?
Banks can use different rounding rules, day-count conventions, fees, and payment allocation logic. Enter the closest rule you can, then sanity-check the first few months against a real statement.
Can I save or reuse my plan?
Yes. Use Export/Import to save your debts as a JSON file and load them later, or share the setup with a partner or family member.
